My Thoughts:

Having used a range of different picture books for Digital Citizenship lessons and class discussions, this one stands out as a real favourite. Through charming illustrations and a simple yet powerful narrative, Antony delivers a message that resonates with both children and adults alike.
The story follows Blip, a little robot who spends all her time plugged into a computer, enjoying games and online adventures. (I know! Very relatable to the children in many of our classes) One day, a power outage forces Blip to venture outside into the real world, where she discovers the joys of nature and physical play. Through this experience, Blip learns that there’s much more to life than screens and gadgets.
Antony’s illustrations are vibrant and engaging, capturing the contrast between the digital and natural worlds beautifully. The book uses minimal text, making it accessible to young readers while leaving plenty of room for interpretation and discussion. The visual storytelling is compelling, with Blip’s expressions and actions showing a range of emotions that children can easily relate to.
